Exhibition Rice
‘This is what we eat – we eat rice’: Interactive exhibition for children aged 4 to 8 in the JuniorMuseum of the Dahlem Museums/ Berlin. The exhibition opens on November 19, 2011, at 11 am, and closes June 23, 2013. The scenography of this exhibition was developed as part of the master’s projects under the guidance of the teaching fellow Xaver Schneider on behalf of Visitors’ Services at the State Museums/ Berlin (Besucherdienste der Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin). The exhibition ‘This is what we eat – we eat rice’ kicks off a series of five exhibitions focusing on basic foodstuffs at the JuniorMuseum/ Berlin-Dahlem. Six students have developed the concept for this two-year exhibition, and have put it into practice scenographically. Apart from the development of the overall concept for the exhibition space, the students highlighted the dramaturgy of the exhibition in scores and presented it through models, drawings and mood boards. Most convincing among the concepts developed by the students was Si Liu’s, which was then put into practice by the participating students. As part of the opening event, all projects for the exhibition will be shown in the entrance hall. The exhibition allows visitors to use all their senses in playing and examining, in trying things out and in relaxation. When visitors have become hungry after this journey of discovery, they will be rewarded by cooking and eating together.
