Juan León

was born in Antofagasta/ Chile in 1965. In 1992, he graduated with a diploma in stage design from the Hochschule für Bildende Künste/ Dresden (HfBK). Since 1992, he has been working as a stage designer and costume designer for theatre, opera, ballet and television. Among his early work was the design of the set for ‘Boris Gudonow’ by Modest Mussorgsky at the Deutsches Nationaltheater/ Weimar. Other work in costume design followed, for instance at the Staatsschauspiel Dresden, the Anhaltisches Theater Dessau, the Volkstheater Rostock, the TiF (Theater in der Fabrik Dresden), the Theater Gera-Altenburg, the Carrousel Theater Berlin, the Schauspielhaus Kiel and the Staatstheater Schwerin. In recent years, León has worked on stage design and costume design for productions at the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern, the Staatstheater Cottbus and the Gran Teatro Nacional de la Habana/ Cuba. León is currently working for the Theater Heilbronn, the Halle opera and the Theater Magdeburg.
