KAHO Komplex

As part of a reactivation project, the listed Karlshorst Theatre in Berlin, vacant since 2008, was used as an interdisciplinary and modular venue. For the festival KAHO Komplex from the end of September to the end of November 2021, the stage tower will be designed in an installation way for various play scenarios and different groups of artists. Aware of its history as the “House of Officers” and with a view to the future cultural location, the festival serves as a pilot for future programmatic uses. The task included the basic design of the stage tower for almost all events, a special installation space scenario for the station of the collective Cashmere Radio, a setting for the filmmakers Marlies Pahlenberg and Sonya Schönberger. Under the direction of Prof. Kerstin Laube and Verena Hemmerlein and in collaboration with the artists, the students developed various concepts.
