In cooperation with the Theaters Chemnitz, concept ideas for stage space and costumes for the production “Every City Needs Its Hero” by Philipp Löhle have been developed in the summer semester 2021. Under the direction of Frank Hänig and in close cooperation with director Matthias Huber and dramaturg Stefanie Esser, students developed various designs. The stage and costume designs by Lioba Bangert and Noelia Contreras were selected and have been realized for this theater season.
When the world outside becomes more and more insecure and brutal, can one simply lock oneself up at home? Don’t we have to declare war on injustice? Four characters increasingly lose their self-determination in dealing with a society that is more and more characterized by a mercilessly conducted distribution struggle. Jörg sells alarm systems and door locks, but the crooked business with these security systems is much more profitable. However, he and his employee Daniel have to learn firsthand that collaborating with criminals is life-threatening. After Alma witnesses a brutal attack on her boss Jörg, she begins to barricade herself in her apartment. Daniel’s neighbor Ella, on the other hand, orders an alarm system for her art gallery, but has very special plans for it. And news of cold-blooded crimes keeps spreading – and suddenly also of a superhero who seems to stand in the way of all violence.
Premiere is on October 1st 2021 at 7.30 pm in the Spinnbau of the Theater Chemnitz.
