Anna Ivanova, born in Russia, grew up in Leipzig and developed an interest in theater at an early age, which is why she studied theater studies after graduating from high school. During her studies, she became interested in the intersections with gender and queer studies, but above all in the impact of costumes and set designs. Her passion for visual media and craftsmanship emerged during this time.

As part of her studies, she worked on a student theater project with Jossi Wieler and Sergio Morabito at the German National Theater in Weimar. She then completed an internship at the Leipzig Opera with set designer Dirk Becker.

Outside of her studies, she was active in Leipzig’s independent theater scene. In 2024, her first self-designed and self-built set and costume design premiered at the English Theatre Leipzig in the play “An Island in the Stormy Sea” by Sam Kioni. Since then, she has continued to design and create stage and costume sets for the independent theater scene. Her work has been featured at the Ost-Passage-Theater, the LOFFT, and the Dachtheater in Leipzig. At the same time, she served as artistic director for the theater association “Freies Ensemble Jedermensch” and helped young people take their first steps in Leipzig’s independent theater scene.

For her, the focus of the master’s program in Stage Design and Scenic Space is above all on artistic development and the deepening of technical knowledge.
