Johann Jörg

Stage Designer

Jörg studied stage design with Erich Wonder at the Hochschule für Angewandte Kunst and at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste/ Vienna. In 1986, he graduated with a distinction and worked as an assistant to George Tabori at the Burgtheater/ Vienna, at the Der Kreis theatre and as an assistant to Georg Wonder at the Bayrische Staatsoper/ Munich.
He has has worked as a freelance stage designer since 1989, for instance at the Schauspielhaus Zürich, the Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf, the Staatsoper unter den Linden/ Berlin, the Leipzig operahouse, the Theater Dortmund, the Musiktheater Gelsenkirchen and the Nationaltheater Mannheim. As a scenographer, he has been instrumental in defining the appearance of the DASA Dortmund, where his latest task was the design of the internationally regarded exhibition Power and Music (Macht und Musik).
