Lara Rockenstein grew up in Berlin and lived in Barcelona for a time. Her career to date has taken her from engineering, industrial design and web development to working as an interface / user experience designer. In this role, she has focused primarily on how complex technical systems can be made accessible and intuitive for people. At the same time, she has always been curious about forms of design that seek not so much to explain as to engage the senses.

Through her studies in Stage Design and Scenic Space, she aims to rethink the concept of space as an interface – by exploring the interplay of analogue and digital media, using objects, light, sound and movement. She is particularly fascinated by the question of how visitors can themselves become an active part of a story. Her goal is to bring her previous experience in user-centred product development to bear on her scenography work.
