Lilu Schaefer was born and raised in Berlin. Her passion for film and her fascination with theatre, which she discovered while working at ATZE Musiktheater in Berlin, led her to move to Weimar after graduating from high school, where she studied Media and Culture.

During her studies, she gained practical experience in various areas of film and media production. Among other things, she worked as a producer at a Berlin-based digital agency, focusing on social media and branded content. There, she was also responsible for set design on various productions. In her own projects, she primarily works with film, combining scenography, set design and costume design with visual concepts. Through these different projects, she developed a particular interest in telling stories not only through film and imagery, but also through space and its design.

With the Master’s programme in Bühnenbild_Szenischer Raum at TU Berlin, she aims to expand on her previous experience and explore spatial storytelling, model making, as well as the practical and artistic possibilities of scenic space in greater depth. She is particularly drawn to the combination of conceptual work and hands-on, practical making.
