Prof. Albert Lang

Head of Interdisziplinäres Raumlabor

Born in 1967, Albert Lang studied medicine in Hannover, Pisa and Munich and directing (theatre and opera) at the Musikhochschule in Munich. He teaches as professor of Dramaturgy and Spatial Composition at post-graduate course Bühnenbild_Szenischer Raum at the Technical University Berlin. Since 2011, he is head of the Interdisziplinäre Raumlabor, a research lab at TU Berlin specializing in inter- and transdisciplinary collaborations. Among other venues, Lang has worked as theatre and opera director at Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel, Semperoper Dresden, Städtische Bühnen Köln, Schauspiel Leipzig, German Theatre Abroad New York, Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Biennale Salzburg and Burgtheater Vienna. Among others, he has edited and translated plays by Goldoni, Corneille, Angot, Babel, Nadolny, Morgan and Bernhard. Among others, Lang has taught at Ludwig-Maximilians University München, Mozarteum University Salzburg and Architectural Association – School of Architecture in London. Lang is an associate member of the TU Teaching Commission, chairman of the work group “Lernräume” (AG Ziethen), member of the German Hochschulverband and member of the network of practitioners in higher education Lehre-hoch-n funded by the Alfred-Toepfer-Stiftung. He is also a mentor for the Performing Arts Programme by LAFT – Landesverband freie darstellende Künste Berlin and a founding member of theatre and performance collective Parallelaktion.
