Ralph Zeger

After training as a theater painter, Ralph Zeger studied stage and costume design with Jürgen Rose in Stuttgart. This was followed by assistantships at the Staatstheater Stuttgart, the Salzburg Festival and the Burgtheater Vienna. Since 2001 he has been working as a freelancer. He works at theaters and opera houses in Germany, but also internationally, and has been nominated Stage Designer of the Year several times. In addition to his work as a stage and costume designer, he devotes himself to photography and illustration. In 2020 he completed further education in theater and music management at the LMU Munich. In his, in the context of the further education written, highly regarded diploma thesis he dealt with the topic of stage design and ecological sustainability.

Since then, he has been working intensively on opportunities, challenges and possibilities of climate-friendly design and sustainable production in scenography.

He is a member of the board of the Association of Scenographers and heads the working group on ecological sustainability.

Teaching assignments, lectures and workshops have taken him to various universities, institutions and events, such as Weißensee Kunsthochschule Berlin, MUK Vienna, Hochschule Mainz Gestaltung, HFBK Hamburg, documenta fifteen Kassel, LMU Munich, Kunstfest Weimar.
