Sabrina Podemski

Sabrina Podemski studied fine art and stage design at the Düsseldorf Art Academy and German language and literature and art history in Dortmund, Granada, Düsseldorf and Brussels. After completing an internship in directing with Falk Richter at the Schaubühne theatre prior to her studies, her interest in theatre and film manifested itself during her art studies in space-specific installations and various collaborative and interdisciplinary projects in fields such as new music, ballet and short film. She developed costume designs for the ballet of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, various performances, and was involved in various short film projects as a costume and set designer. In her artistic and theoretical work, she deals with questions of image science and stages image spaces in her installations, in which she transfers her own codes and images into the space, thereby continuing the theoretical level of the work in the space. She is also interested in the forensic potential of architecture and, in her sculptural works, examines objects and architectural elements as repositories of time. Most of her works are based on spatial analysis and a literary approach that oscillates between theory and fiction. She currently works as a freelance artist and curates the programme at the Storage Museum Düsseldorf as part of the management team. She holds a teaching position at the Düsseldorf Art Academy.
